Gridiron In East Auckland since 1999
The Tamaki Lightning has been providing the sport of American Football to the wider East Auckland/Botany community for the past 16 years.
Apart from our Senior team, we are also recruit players for our Junior and Colts teams to participate in the Football Auckland competition for the upcoming season, which generally runs from Late October through to February. We are currently based at the Pakuranga Rugby Club where all our trainings take place.
The Tamaki Lightning has a proud history, from the inception of the club in the former Gridiron New Zealand (GNZ) league in 1999, to being GNZ champions in 2006 and the more recent successes. Interested in joining or supporting our club? We are always looking for people to join as Players, Coaches, Supporters, Volunteers or Sponsors. Prior experience is not required and all you need is a can-do attitude and a willingness to learn the fast paced sport of American Football! As player safety is our primary concern, we are proud to provide our players with state of the art equipment, including helmets, shoulder pads and lower leg pads.
