Rob Gambolati
1999 - Present Inducted 2014
Rob Gambolati is synonymous with the Tamaki Lightning. He was a foundation member of the club and has been a player, coach and administrator until his (temporary) retirement to spend more time with his family.
His constant and infectious energy remains within the current players of the club - usually the first man on (and last off) the field, Rob has always been an inspirational and motivating factor for the players and supporters alike - with his love of the game clearly evident to all who have had the privilege to meet him.
For many years Rob shared his knowledge, energy and love for the football as our head coach. A tireless leader who carried our clubs vision forward with passion and integrity. He would always take (or make) time to ensure a player knew the correct technique and understood his assignment on the field and any important tips (“head on a swivel baby”).
Beyond our club, Rob has also served for many years in the regional and national American Football organisations, including coaching regional all start teams; as a delegate to the National Board; and facilitating a series of coaching workshops.
It is with great pleasure and joy that we recognise our brother Rob Gambolati, and welcome him to the Tamaki Lightning Hall of Fame.
